Keepin’ It Corporate – Court Room Edition

So I don’t know about you… but I find that the phrase “Fashion in the workplace” is almost an Oxymoron. Unless you’re working at the Vogue or Elle offices (Super jealy if you are!), you’re probably more used to seeing muted colors, over-sized suits (complete with mid length skirts and shoulder padded poly blend jackets), and “sensible shoes”– that term alone makes me shudder in disgust.

Fortunately, I have decided to answer your office get-up woes with a new installment called, Keepin’ It Corporate. My first focus is on Court Room Dressing, as requested by my newly esquired friend, Katherine. This style savvy lawyer finds it hard to be well-dressed and still taken seriously in the court room. Certainly no easy feat, but I think even the toughest judges would appreciate a little color and some polka dot prints, to liven up their chambers.

3 Ways To Rock Jean Cut Offs

Expounding upon yesterday’s Post.. Jean Cut-Offs are great… but how the F do you wear them all summer while keeping the look fresh? Above is a simple break-down of how to acheive 3 different looks, revovling around the same summer staple.

Color-Blocker – Top: Otte NY [$150] . Bracelet: J. Crew [$78] . Shorts: Bsb Fashion [$60] . Heels: Aldo [$42]

Tied Up – Collar: Miss Selfridge [ $29] . Shirt: Equipment [$128] . Shorts: AEagle [$35] . Hat: ModCloth [$15] . Shoes: Wallis [$44]

Country Girl – Shirt: Madewell [$88] . Earrings: Vanity [$10] . Purse: Radley [$200] . Shorts: TopShop [$45] . Shoes: JC [$200]

Though, if all else fails just stick to the graphic tee + Sandals + cut offs look —  pair them with aviators and you are golden.

Summer Staple: Denim Cut-Offs

So I am a true summer-child, I was born in the height of the season, and I live for long days and warm nights. However, this recent heat epidemic is almost too much for me to handle. I mean, after standing outside yesterday for 10 minutes, I was certain my Jimmy Choo’s were about to melt into the side walk, and the majority of my make up was running down my face — so not cute. The only solution I could think of (besides moving to Siberia), is to just embrace the lazy ways of summer and throw on some cut offs, bust out the sandals, and keep it easy breezy and (hopefully) cool in these sweltering temps. If I am going to go the shorts route every day, then I will at least need a variety of colors and lengths to mix it up [shopaholics justification], and so I have curated a lovely selection of fab cut offs prime for the summertime, and in a plethora of colors and prices for any budget. Enjoy! xoxo

Red, White, & Blue. Independence Day Dressing.

A Few Outtakes on Patriotic Outfitting.

Jacket: Zara . Tank: Vince . Shorts: Milly (similar here and here) . Bag: Tory Burch . Heels: Christian Louboutin . Sunnies: Ray-ban . Necklace: J.Crew

I love any excuse for “theme” dressing. Pastels on Easter… Reds, Greens, Blues, and Whites around Chanukka and Christmas, and of course; Red, White & Blue on the 4th of July. The key to not looking like a holiday mascot though is embracing the colors without going overboard. I really love everything about this outfit, the blazer is an amazing find from Zara (now on sale!) and it has studs around the shoulders (so on trend) that add a little edge to the classic material, I also added a starburst rhinestone pin (borrowed from an Alice & Olivia dress) for a little pop that mimics the evening’s fireworks. The shorts are some of my absolute fave shorts that I own . The sailor-style Milly shorts are so versatile and I love the greek key pattern, and nautical button-up front, You will def be seeing these on repeat all summer. The shoes are some of my most comfortable Louby’s from a few seasons ago. They are a tad more simple than some of the other designs I own, but those red bottoms add the perfect pop for the Holiday.

Though I adore the outfit, after my Independance Day Brunch.. it was time for a more casual (and cooler) look for the beach [via instagram].

Fourth of July BBQ Stylin’

Independance Day is one of my absolute favorite Holidays. It falls right near my Birthday (hellooo extended celebrations!), and it is right in the middle of summer so all activities revolve around drinking, grilling, water sports, and the great outdoors. PLUS short hemlines are encouraged — how could you go wrong with that?!? Above is my ideal 4th of July BBQ outfit, which keeps the wears pretty basic and really lets the accessories shine.
HAPPY 4th OF JULY EVERYONE!
