I have a million things on my plate today but let me quickly recap the Fashion Superbowl that is the Oscars. This was not an easy night because I felt that so many of the stars tried to bring their all… but fashion is discerning and so am I.
These Ladies are my “Runner’s Up” for best dressed.
I loved each of these ladies’ looks last night. Milla Jovovich‘s gown was FLAWLESS from the draping to the fit to the use of sequins and etheral color, Elie Saab as always hit it outta the park- LOVE IT! Jessica Chastain really went with the trends and wore a bold printed gown (which is not easy to pull off)… her body looked gorgeous in that unforgiving silhouette. I’m a huge Alexander McQueen fan, and I really love this eye catching gown. Viola Davis who totally got snubbed (even thoughI ADORE Meryl Streep), gets a major point in my book for bringing in some COLOR! She looks great in the bright jewel tone gown and i love the breakaway pleats at the bottom, beautifully detailed bodice, and supperior fit. Also big plus for wearing her hair naturally! She looked fab! Rooney Mara What can I say about this show stopping, trend setting beauty that hasnt already been said? I Love her and I am so pleased she chose this color and structure for her gown. AMAZING! I also felt that these Gods of the Big Screen really brought some old Hollywood on to the red carpet last night. I mean clearly Brad and Angie owned that red carpet, but I must give props to Stacy Keibler because I think she looks GORGEOUS in that Marchesa gown.
I must say, I found the fashion at this year’sGrammy Awardsto be pretty underwhelming, with a few outlandish exceptions, but the overall vibe was “eh”. In the wake of music idol/goddess/inspiration/superstar, Whitney Houston’s death, the somber tone of the night seemed to be mimicked by the attendee’s sense of fashion; very little color, lots of black, white, and nude, a disappointing lack of prints, and an uncharacteristically low amount of edge. However many of the artists rocked their performances (Beach boys!), and there were a few people who got it right on the red carpet (and many who were just a hot mess). Here’s myRed Carpet Report
I thought these ladies really embraced the current spring trends, and looked gorgeous and well put together (I’m giving Katy Perry’s hair a pass tonight) while standing out from the bevy of black tulle gowns and cocktail length mistakes. I only wish the step and repeat was a different color so Kelly’s dress (and hair!) could stand out more.
And The Winner Is…
Adele can do no wrong in my eyes, and therefore this Grammy darling 100% wins my best dressed of the night. She hit a home run with her curve accentuating sparkly black Giorgio Armani gown, and her sense of playfulness and classic beauty shine through in a gorgeous sheer polka dot number on stage… And those few Grammy’s she picked up through out the night weren’t too shabby either.
