Red, White, & Blue. Independence Day Dressing.

A Few Outtakes on Patriotic Outfitting.

Jacket: Zara . Tank: Vince . Shorts: Milly (similar here and here) . Bag: Tory Burch . Heels: Christian Louboutin . Sunnies: Ray-ban . Necklace: J.Crew

I love any excuse for “theme” dressing. Pastels on Easter… Reds, Greens, Blues, and Whites around Chanukka and Christmas, and of course; Red, White & Blue on the 4th of July. The key to not looking like a holiday mascot though is embracing the colors without going overboard. I really love everything about this outfit, the blazer is an amazing find from Zara (now on sale!) and it has studs around the shoulders (so on trend) that add a little edge to the classic material, I also added a starburst rhinestone pin (borrowed from an Alice & Olivia dress) for a little pop that mimics the evening’s fireworks. The shorts are some of my absolute fave shorts that I own . The sailor-style Milly shorts are so versatile and I love the greek key pattern, and nautical button-up front, You will def be seeing these on repeat all summer. The shoes are some of my most comfortable Louby’s from a few seasons ago. They are a tad more simple than some of the other designs I own, but those red bottoms add the perfect pop for the Holiday.

Though I adore the outfit, after my Independance Day Brunch.. it was time for a more casual (and cooler) look for the beach [via instagram].

Fourth of July BBQ Stylin’

Independance Day is one of my absolute favorite Holidays. It falls right near my Birthday (hellooo extended celebrations!), and it is right in the middle of summer so all activities revolve around drinking, grilling, water sports, and the great outdoors. PLUS short hemlines are encouraged — how could you go wrong with that?!? Above is my ideal 4th of July BBQ outfit, which keeps the wears pretty basic and really lets the accessories shine.

Red Hot Summer

Dress: BCBG (old) . Shoes: Kate Spade . Bag: Letty (last seen here) . Nails: Essie ‘lilacism’ Necklace: Danielle Stevens

So I don’t know about you ladies, but for me wearing red is like an instant mood lifter, and a surefire attention getter. I love to don the color for formal events, as it typically stands out amongst the sea of long black gowns, and conservative cocktails dresses. The shade looks great ON EVERYONE (yes even red-heads- but if you’re not into the red hot, head-to-toe look, it also works fabulously as an accent piece (think red scarf, handbag, or just a swipe of red lipstick). However, if you’re looking to be a bit more bold and bright at your next affair grab one of these gorg dresses, and you’ll be a defininte standout at any soiree.

P.S. The Bottega Veneta gown is my dream dress so for any generous readers out there, my bday is coming up and I am a size 2. Thanks! xoxo, S

Mother’s day is less than two weeks away so if you haven’t bought your present yet… get on it!!! Personally, I think that flowers.. chocolates.. stationary.. the usual “mom gifts” are a little boring, so here are a few ideas to really show your mommy that you care (and that you have impeccable taste!). My mother (seen below) is one of my best friends, greatest supporters, and I really could not imagine my life without her. She started me on thefashion track at a young age, side pony’s, frilly dresses, acid wash outfits (Hey- it was the eighties), and I am eternally grateful. So Happy (early) Mother’s Day to all of the fabulous fashionista’s out there that gave us life, good looks, and a discerning eye for style.

Star Style: Valentine’s Edition

It’s Valentine’s Day (or Single Awareness Day- however you wanna play it), and that means copious amounts of money will be spent on unnecessary seasonal Hallmark swag, flowers, and prix-fix meals, and everyone around you will have those lovey dovey eyes, and wedding day glow – ick. Honestly, I am a huge fan of all of the components of Valentine’s day: Chocolates-check, Champagne- hell yes, Pink-my fave color, Flowers- love ’em… but on this day I just see it all as a contrived effort to emulate a form of love that is entirely unachievable and glamorized by Hollywood and the media- and it just comes across as fake. My boyfriend and I love each other to no end every single day of the year, and we certainly do not need a random mid-winter day to tell us to celebrate each other and our feelings since we do it every day. That being said: Boyfriend, if you are reading this, my opinion is no excuse for you to come home without a present ;). Alright now on to my favorite part of the pseudo-holiday— THE THEME DRESSING! Reds, pinks, hearts, sex, candy, and perfume, all delight the fashion world today so lets embrace it all in my Valentine’s Night Breakdown– Star Style.

These ladies are some of the most influential and stylish starlets on the scene, and here is what I envision them wearing out to din tonight.
